What age is Jules suitable for? Plus

Jules is designed for children aged 4 to 10, with content thoughtfully tailored to different developmental stages. Our experiences are developed in collaboration with teachers and trained on the primary school curriculum, ensuring that every story, game, and learning adventure supports age-appropriate learning in a fun and engaging way

Is Jules always listening? Plus

No. In Jules Anywhere mode, Jules does not listen. When Jules is paused, it does not listen either.

In Jules Adventures mode, there are two situations where listening is used:

  1. During a learning session: after Jules asks a question, you’ll hear a “beep”. This signals that Jules is listening for the child’s answer so it can respond.
  2. Waiting for “Hi Jules”: outside an active exchange, Jules listens locally on the device only for the “Hi Jules” wake word. Nothing is sent or processed remotely while waiting for the wake word. Once Jules hears “Hi Jules”, it starts listening to what is said so it can respond.
Does Jules record or store my child's voice, and is it used to train AI? Plus

We never keep recordings of your child's voice. Their words are turned into text so Jules can understand them, and the audio is deleted straight away.

We keep the written conversation so you can read it in the parent app and so Jules can follow what your child just said. You can delete any conversation at any time.

By default and unless you change settings in the parent app, your child's conversations are never used to train AI, and never sold or shared for anyone else's purposes. The specialist providers who help Jules hear, think and speak are bound by contract to use this data only on our instructions and to keep it confidential.
How do you stop inappropriate or frightening content? Plus

Jules has been designed with safety at its core. We use multiple AI safety layers, age appropriate settings, content filters and extensive testing to reduce the risk of inappropriate or frightening responses.

While no AI system can guarantee perfection, Jules is designed to avoid unsafe content, and parents can report any response directly through the app so we can investigate and improve it.

You can switch the AI-powered interactive mode on or off at any time through the Jules Parent App, giving you control over when your child can access this feature.
Does Jules work without Wi-Fi? Plus

Yes. Jules Anywhere, our offline story library, works without Wi-Fi once stories have been downloaded to the device.

An internet connection is only needed for Jules Adventures (interactive adventures), asking live questions, syncing with preferences set in the Jules parent app, and downloading new stories and software updates.
